Jess's Long Distance Love Story With The Ciara Gown

Some brides walk into the studio. Jess flew into one.

Like a lot of our brides, Jess found We Are Mancini in the most 2026 way possible: scrolling Pinterest at midnight, saving dress after dress, until one stopped her scroll completely. The Ciara gown. She still remembers the exact pin.

"I wasn't even looking that seriously. I just knew when I saw it that I wanted to know more."

The virtual consultation

Here's the thing about wedding dress shopping when you don't live in Sydney: it can feel impossible. Flights, appointments, deposits on dresses you've only seen in photos. It's a lot to ask of anyone, let alone a bride already juggling a hundred other decisions.

So Jess did what a lot of our interstate and international brides do first. She booked a virtual consultation.

No pressure, no pushy sales pitch, just a real conversation about her body, her venue, her vision for the day, and whether the Ciara was actually going to be the one or just a very good Pinterest pin. We talked fabric, fit, and how the bias cut moves on different body shapes, because a photo can only tell you so much.

By the end of the call, Jess was ready to see it in person.

Flying in for the fitting

There's something we love about the moment a bride walks into the home studio for the first time. It's usually a mix of nerves and excitement, and Jess's visit was no different. She flew into Sydney, dress already half-decided in her head, and tried the Ciara on for real.

It fit the way we hoped it would. Effortless. Her.

She booked it in that day. But being set on the dress didn't mean the styling conversation was over. If anything, it was just getting started.

Finding her finishing touches

A gown is the headline, but veils and styling are what make it feel like your wedding, not just a wedding. So while she was in studio, Jess tried on a handful of different veils against the Ciara, playing with lengths and finishes to see what actually felt like her, rather than what she thought a bride was "supposed" to wear.

We also got into one of our favourite topics: the hem. Every bride's height and heel is different, which means every hem is a little bit custom. We talked through the process of getting the Ciara altered to sit perfectly at Jess's length, and why we always recommend waiting until you have your actual wedding shoes before locking anything in. Half a centimetre in heel height can change everything.

What's next for Jess

Jess is now shoe hunting in Melbourne, and once she finds the pair, she'll try the Ciara on again to check the fit is still exactly right. From there, we'll jump on a Google Meet to walk through the hem alterations together, and she'll take her gown to a trusted local tailor to get it adjusted to her final length.

It's proof that you don't need to live in Sydney, or even see your dress in person straight away, to end up in something that fits like it was made for you. Because with the right support along the way, it basically was.
