The Travel Diaries: A guide to Bali, a top destination for newlyweds
For the next chapter of our travel diaries, we take you through our top recommendations for Bali, a honeymoon destination favourite.
Bali, Indonesia is not only a popular destination for couples looking for a romantic, tropical vacation, but it is one of the most loved places to go for newlyweds seeking the perfect honeymoon location. From luxurious villas to iconic restaurants, beach clubs, scenic beaches and rich cultural sites, Bali is full of incredible things to do and see. Our team’s Bali guide encompasses the hustle and bustle of Canggu and Seminyak, to the tranquility and scenery of Uluwatu.

Canggu + Seminyak
Sit Oceanside at the Beach Clubs
The main hubs of the south-west coast of Bali are home to some of the best beaches, accompanied by beach clubs to spend the day at. Some of the well-known ones including Finns and Potato Head are great for a bustling atmosphere, however we love La Brisa and The Lawn for a more laid back and refined feel.
The Restaurant and Bar Scene
Seminyak and Canggu have endless places to drink and dine, expanding across all cuisines and price ranges. A standout for us is La Lucciola, an open air, beach-side Italian Restaurant and Yuki, for a unique Izakaya experience. Other notable places to eat are Ijen, the restaurant within Potato Head Beach Club, and Ling Ling’s, an affordable contemporary asian restaurant. Have a drink at the Legian Hotel bar, or pop into Motel Mexico for its unforgettable, vibrant atmosphere.

Shopping in Seminyak
The Seminyak area is known for it’s boutiques and shopping streets, with the main street of Jalan Raya being a hub of fashion stores, galleries and cafes. Visit some of the TikTok famous leather stores that can create customised handbags, shoes and accessories of incredible quality, alongside the jewellery and fashion boutiques for some one of a kind finds.
Relax and Restore
One of our most recommended things to do is visit a day spa and indulge in some self care. Bodyworks in Seminyak is known not only for its iconic interiors including its pink walls and Moroccan inspired architecture, but also for the spectrum of treatments on offer. From massages to facials and sauna’s, spend some time here relaxing and embracing the joys of holidaying!

Uluwatu
Enjoy the Incredible Surfing Scene and Beaches
In the southern most part of Bali, is Uluwatu, a world-renowned surfing location due to its one of a kind beaches and reef breaks. Bingin beach is a great place to stay in Uluwatu, or visit for the day. It encompasses beautiful scenery, and is a popular spot yet less crowded than other beaches. We recommend spending the day relaxing by the sea, and then having a sunset meal at one of the local Warung’s like Lucky Fish on the beach. Sunday’s Beach Club, based in Ungasan below the Ungasan Clifftop Resort is the perfect place to enjoy the beaches of Uluwatu. Other popular beaches are Padang Padang and Suluban (Blue Point).
Visit the Uluwatu Temple
Uluwatu has some notable cultural sites to visit, most famously the Uluwatu Temple, a Balinese Hindu temple. Located on a cliff edge with panoramic viewpoints, its one of the nine directional temples of Bali, meant to protect the island from evil spirits.

Dining with a View
One of our favourite things about staying in Uluwatu was visiting the restaurants and bars that sit at a cliffs edge, perfect for a sunset drink or romantic dinner. For dinner, Abracadabra Restaurant at Mu Bungalows Hotel is a magic spot for a romantic atmosphere, outdoor seating and delicious food. Ulu Gardens is another dining location that is a sanctuary of nature, culture and food. For a drink, Single Fin and Rock Bar serve the best cocktails, accompanied by the most incredible sunset and sea views.
Take a Yoga Class
Bali is renowned for yoga, with the combination of its strong spiritual culture and serene environmental beauty making it the home to many yoga retreats and practices. In Uluwatu, there is an abundance of classes you can do, with our favourite spots including Temple Lodge Yoga, Dreamsea Yoga and Morning Light Yoga.
